AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers of 2022
Now in its 99th year, AIGA is delighted to usher in its annual 50 Books | 50 Covers competition, which recognizes the best in book and book cover design. Starting in 1923 as the Fifty Books of the Year competition, this time-honored competition aims to identify the 50 best-designed books and book covers published between January and December. Entries are open to the public for print and digital books published and used in the marketplace in 2022. The juror-selections from the AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers competition will exemplify the best current work in book and book cover design from around the globe. Winners will become part of the AIGA Collection at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia University’s Butler Library in New York City and published in a gallery on AIGA’s website. “I never thought that my work would be recognized by the AIGA, the organization that I once quoted in my application to graduate school. To be recognized by the AIGA is the biggest reaffirmation of the work I do. It reframes all of the swirling uncertain experimentation and spaghetti I've thrown at the wall into a process with a purpose, with real meaning and impact.” —Vic Lu

“For years, I’ve drawn inspiration from this competition and the legendary designers it celebrates. I’m honored to be a part of this community and have my work recognized.” —Eli Mock, Abrams Books

365: AIGA Year in Design (2022)
AIGA is committed to creating pathways for designers to showcase their work. 365: AIGA Year in Design is a 360-degree view of design over 365 days during the 2022 calendar year. This competition publicly celebrates designers, design teams, and their clients for effectively working together to design creative solutions for challenges presented by businesses and organizations. Designers are key to solving complex problems, especially now as companies large and small are forced to adapt, pivot, or reinvent themselves to stay relevant. View the 2021 winners gallery.

“It's exciting to have 365: AIGA Year in Design Competition back. I've missed getting a glimpse of the state of design through the lens of the design community.” —Rafael Esquer, Alfalfa Studio (365: AIGA Year in Design 2021 Juror)

“365: AIGA Year in Design competition is an exciting recognition of the important role of graphic design in creating culture.” —Shannon Harvey, Principal, IN-FO.CO
